Everyday life: negation with ne … pas in the present tense

In this unit, pupils are introduced to the verb 'dormir' in singular persons.They use negation 'ne...pas' with single verb structures and 'ne...pas de' before nouns, as they use high frequency vocabulary for activities they don't do or say what isn't in a place. SSCs [ai] and [ch] are revisited.

  • Pupils know common -ir verbs 'sortir' and 'venir' in the present tense.
  • Pupils know common -re verbs 'prendre', 'apprendre', 'comprendre' and 'dire' in the present tense.
  • Pupils can use regular -er verbs in the present tense.
  • Pupils can use 'il y a' with indefinite articles and nouns.
  • Pupils can use irregular verbs avoir, être and faire in the present tense.
  • Pupils know the prepositions à, en and chez.
